I do like the puzzle levels, but I haven't come close to solving any of them completely, due to the time restriction. I simply don't have the coordination & patience required.

How about a little hint? You know you want to...

Alex.

Ok, I don't know if it's still un-cool to reply to your own posts as it was in the usenet days, but I did stumble across what Jamie has been up to outside of Qwak:

Ah yes, afraid the high-scores do 'vanish' after 31 days. They're in the database still, just not displayed on the website. I could, have the top 3 of all time, on a special page (if I get round to coding it).

"Marathoning" was a term I first heard when I met Tony Temple at a retro gaming event early this year (Tony is world champion record holder on Missile Command).I think that rocks! I love the skill and energy and intensity that goes in to playing games at such a high level. I used to play Temco's excellent StarForce a lot in my youth, and that game is definitely the inspiration behind Zap (which I coded well over 20 years ago, old git that I am!).

As for what I'm working on next...

Well, right this moment I'm working on some (sprite animation) production tools..

After that, I've got a couple of things I'd like to do; one of which is a platformer, not related to Qwak (but, will be continuing the puzzle solving element, that's in Qwak).

Something I will definitely be doing, is setting up FaceBook, Twitter, a Blog etc; and put out a lot more information on what I'm doing, and also involve people a lot more, engage fans and anyone interested in what I'm doing. So, fun times ahead!! :)

Yeah, they're by no means easy!! :) (in fact, I'm still surprised anyone solved them all so soon), but this puzzle solving thing, in platformers, is something that appeals to me and I think a lot more can be done with it..

I haven't solved them yet, but to answer your question... I LOVE the puzzle levels (yes, even though I haven't solved them yet).

I guess, as a fellow programmer, I'm drawn to the mind bending, frustrating, MUST SOLVE THIS BEFORE I CAN GO ON! kind of thing. : ) The only frustrating thing is not having enough time before the rain of mines. Even just being able to pause the game and look at the screen would be helpful - but I suppose it would be "cheating".

But keep the puzzles coming!

[p.s. When I logged on to this board it gave me one language choice: British English. I'm in California, but I will do my best to use BRITISH English. Here goes: Rubbish! There. : ) ]

Hehehe, well be assured, they are all solvable and it's quite possible to do each one, collecting all the items on each level. Of course, you're against the clock too!

Jamie. ;)
